Congratulations! So you want to be a builder. As a novice starting out you’ve, realized that the easiest way to go is with the modular home.
For that, I’ll give you two points!
Your decision to build a modular home has led you to the easiest way to becoming a builder. Builders, like new builders and owner builders, can manage large and small projects. Remember, building the traditional way is back-breaking work and involves projects that are site built, which means being built on site, brick by brick and stick by stick; they take the most time, effort and management.
Modular home building is a breeze by comparison. Much Faster and Easier than Kit and Packaged homes.
Building Modular requires the least amount of on-site work and presence compared to prefab or factory assisted dwellings. This means that managing the project is much easier than the alternatives. Most of the work is done in the factory, so you don’t need to be there! Considering time is money, you must admit, it’s a pretty sweet deal.
Although mobile homes are also built in a factory they don’t fit into this category. Since they are primarily a vehicle, they are not widely considered to be a real home. This creates an opportunity for modular dwellings to be the front runner for ease of on-site construction.
How To Be A Master Builder
Normally, your building project would entail getting the loan, then the land, the architect and the Interior Designer. As a builder, you can spend your time preparing the site for the arrival of your building project while it’s being built in the factory. If you hire a home building coach you will be assisted through the rest of the process.
When you are preparing the land and foundations, let your foundations contractors know you are building a modular home so the levels and dimensions will be perfect.
Install the well and septic systems; these services need to be in place no matter what type of home you are building. You’ll save plenty of time, energy and expense by hooking them up ahead of time.
Shipping your home to the site is easy. The manufacturer will normally handle those details.
Assembling the main modular sections of your building on the foundation will be done by heavy machinery since these two to four parts are quite large. This is also usually done by the manufacturer.
Local trade subcontractors can now complete the electrical, heating and cooling (not always necessary), and plumbing systems as the sections are assembled. The manufacturer or dealer will still be on hand to offer advice and assistance in choosing and managing the right subcontractors to accomplish these tasks.
Finishing contractors will also be needed to install the carpets, floor coverings and tile layers before the house is truly liveable. Your coach will help manage the subcontractors.
Sometimes modular home manufacturers complete most of the finishing work, so you may not have to worry much about hiring and managing too many finishing contractors. This is an added bonus; it saves time and usually money.
The Quickest Builders Around
You could be living it up in your modular home in as little as eight weeks or less after starting. This could be half, or even a quarter, of the time it would take to construct a traditional, custom site built home. The same can be said when comparing kit or prefab homes.
You must be aware however, with any building project, problems and delays may arise and often do.
If you are looking for a quality home that meets or beats building codes and standards but want to “do it yourself”, control costs, finish it quickly and get exactly what you want, then modular homes can make you look like The Master Builder.

This sounds great! I want to be a Master Builder.
Modular homes really are a great example of using modern technology to make building easy but also a work of art these days. I plan to build my dream home that way.
